If you would like to find out more about the historical and cultural heritage of the local area and make many new friends, why not join the Local History group?

Currently Su3a’s largest group, (we are separated into 2 Groups - Vikings and Saxons) we aim to offer members a rich and varied programme of visits and talks covering many themes and 1000 years of history in Somerset, Dorset and Devon.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays on the month throughout the year.

The 1st Wednesday is a visit to a place of interest and the 3rd Wednesday is a meeting in the Parish Rooms, Somerton with guest speakers in the winter months and “coffee and chat get-togethers” in the summer months.

These are occasions to meet up with everyone and also, an opportunity to borrow books from our group library should you wish to find out more about the places we visit.

Sometimes there are changes to this routine and there are often additional events on the 5th Wednesdays of the month.

The annual fee, covering the hire of the Parish rooms, refreshments and speaker fees is £15 pa, payable in March.
