The Tuesday Readers Group meet on the second Tuesday afternoon of each month. As we meet in each others homes we have to restrict our group size to 8. When the Group is full, we run a reserve list should any of the current group leave.
Books are borrowed from Somerton Library and there is a charge of £1 per month to cover the book loan. We take it in turn to chose a book and so cover a wide range of genres and tastes, often a book we would not have chosen ourselves.
Each year we try to organise a literary themed visit to tie in with a book we have read. This year (2025) we visited Taunton races having read Felix Francis’ book “Pulse”!
Some of the other titles we have read recently include “The Millstone” by Margaret Drabble, “Conclave” (just prior to the announcement of Pope Francis’ death!) by Robert Harris, “Snow” by John Banville, “The Zanzibar Wife” by Deboragh Rodriguez, and “There Are Rivers In The Sky” by Elif Shafak.
